Bobbito- My Change in Listening Habits

I remember reading an issue of Rap Pages on the 4 train years ago on my way to my summer job. Always a big magazine junkie I remember asking my mom for money to buy Black Beat, Right On, Jet and even Essence (did not realize it was for women). This experience was different though, there was an article where the author was talking about the connection you feel to others proudly mouthing words to hip hop tracks that not everyone knew. Feeling instantly connected because I am/was/will always be a rewind champion that wanted to know each word and pause I became an instant fan of Bobbito. In a different issue or maybe it was the same issue he quoted a freestyle from OC that I had heard on a tape from Tapekingz. It was at the bottom of the article that I realized this and many freestyles I listened to religiously originated from WKCR with Stretch and Bob. Over the years of listening to that show I got put on to places like the original Fat Beats in my college years (323 e 9th Street) which later became Footwork, Puck Building, Nu Yourican, RNR and countless shows. It was definitely the moment I felt that I had company on the side of people that were not all about what gets beaten into your head on the radio.

Why Not

I see everyone blogging, I am a brother with lots of random thoughts so why not.
